Random Acts of Kindness - pass it on!

Saturday 1st of September 2012

Random Acts of Kindness Day is all about doing random "kindnesses" for random people. It's a win-win situation for both the giver and the receiver. Ideally, we should be doing acts of kindness every day - and many people do - but this is an official day and a wonderful opportunity to focus on others. What's more, kindness doesn't need to cost anything - it's the thought that counts. Smile at a stranger, let a motorist into the traffic, pay someone a compliment. The opportunities are endless and the more people that embrace it, the greater the impact.

Last year over 40 Napier inner city businesses thought of all sorts of creative and generous ways to participate in NZ's Random Acts of Kindness Day - always on 1st September. Initiated in 2005, this national day continues to gain momentum and Napier was the first city to embrace it on such a large scale

Many local churches and organisations also embraced the idea and planned thoughtful and pleasant ways to "RAK" the public - washing cars and giving away fruit, posies and home baking.
